Where Does WatchedItem get its eBay Information
January 14th, 2010 by Michelle

Another question about Watched Item appeared on SlickDeals.net’s forum.

How does it work? Unless it is a subsidiary of eBay, I don’t see how they can access the database.

I get a lot of questions like this from shoppers and eBay sellers. Sometimes the eBay sellers are angry that I display their listings on Watched Item.

eBay runs an Application Programmers Interface (API) which gives 3rd party developers access to eBay listings. Sites using the API display the Right Now On eBay logo.

Sites that get approved by eBay show the eBay compatible application logo and get a listing in the eBay solutions directory.

Here is Watched Item in the eBay solution directory.

Hope that helps!
