A. Lange & Söhne Watches – 165th Anniversary!
March 5th, 2010 by Michelle

Here’s a beautiful timepiece maker I just discovered: A. Lange & Söhne

This watch manufacturer is celebrating 165 years in business! Isn’t it great to see a business succeed over the long term?

The year 2010 marks the 165th anniversary of a historic event:
in 1845, Ferdinand A. Lange established his own watch manufactory in the Müglitz valley. He was a man of remarkable modesty paired with an unfaltering quest for perfection. With the establishment, F. A. Lange wanted to take on two formidable challenges of the era:

The year 1845 falls within the halcyon days of the industrial revolution. The tremendous innovative thrust in manufacturing and transportation called for unprecedented timekeeping precision. However, the Ore Mountains remained isolated from progress. The remote region was plagued by unemployment and poverty.
F. A. Lange decided to build the world’s finest watches and at the same time to provide the people in his native Saxony with an education and jobs.
